The web went crazy today. Some 6 year old boy was reported as floating high in a home-made hot air balloon.
Technology did not disappoint either. We had live reports, streaming video, tweets, blog posts (like this one), pictures, live news coverage, the whole shebang ( #! ).
As it turns out, the kid was never in the thing. He untethered the balloon and hid in the attic so he wouldn’t get in trouble. I wonder what’s worse? Getting yelled at for losing the balloon, or for falsely setting off the biggest viral news story since Obama got elected.
Additionally, one day this kid is really going to float away in a balloon, and no one’s going to believe him.

Did you catch this kid on the Today Show or GMA this morning? He was puking all over the place on national television. Good stuff.
