The National Science Foundation has awarded $10.1 million to Indiana University to establish FutureGrid – one of two experimental systems to fund the most powerful supercomputers in the nation.

FutureGrid is a test bed which allows scientists and researchers to work together to test, develop, and deploy the next generation of parallel and grid supercomputers.

They’ve just put up the site for the FutureGrid project, so check it out for more detailed information.

There was also a pretty in-depth writeup about the project on Supercomputing Online.
