For the past few days I’ve had absolutely the most annoying bug in my Snow Leopard system. Despite having every message read, in every mail box, the dock icon still shows that damned red alert batch.
Here’s how to fix that…
Go into Mail.app and create a new Smart Mailbox with the following settings:
Now, it may take a little while for the app to find all those messages, especially since it’s not excluding your junk folders.
After the spinning gear is gone, right click and select “Mark All Messages as Read”
If that doesn’t work, and 99% of the time it will, find the one mailbox with that mysterious unread message, and go to Mailbox > Rebuild:
