Prevent Crashes, Freezes, Ads in Safari with ClickToFlash

September 30, 2009

Recently, a good friend from Apple, Jason Bruder, turned me onto a really great Safari plugin called ClickToFlash. This plugin works very similar to AdBlock Plus, but is focused on blocking Flash. See below for some screenshots. You can specify to get the H.264 versions (and even the HD versions automatically) of videos from sites [...]

Digg wants me to block their ads

September 28, 2009

Apparently, Digg doesn’t get the hint. The vast majority of their userbase blocks ads via AdBlock Plus. A few disable this just for Digg so they can make some revenue. But, why then would Digg allow such obviously offensive ads on their site? They’re assaulting the very people who are trying to support them. Exhibit [...]

Use Debian Instead of Ubuntu on Your Server

September 26, 2009

One of my favorite sites, Stikked, had a little server outage. (If you’re not familiar with what Stikked is, I’ll explain at the bottom). The developer, and personal friend, posted what happened. While not definitive, it certainly illustrates why you shouldn’t use Ubuntu instead of Debian on a server. Here’s what Ben, the creator and [...]

New blogging tools and easier posting

September 25, 2009

One thing I’ve noticed is that I’m lazy. Really lazy. If something takes more than a few minutes, or maybe 3 steps, I just won’t do it. I’m admitting it. Blogging is no different. Sure, I have interesting things to share with you… but very little time or mental energy at the end of the [...]
